Asian Restaurant Awards launch held in Scottish Parliament attended by ESBA, 31 May.

Every seat was taken for the launch of the Asian Restaurant Awards 2023 Scotland held on the 31st May in the Holyrood Room at the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh.  Hosted by Foysol Choudhury MSP.

Yawar Khan, Chairman  of the Awards gave a welcome address, followed by short speeches from Richard Lochhead MSP and Minister for Small Businesses;  Brian Whittle MSP, Opposition spokesperson for Environment, Land Reform and Biodiversity and Jackie Baillie, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Scotland,  The event was well supported by other MSPs.

ESBA’s John Walker  spoke in his remarks about the importance of the curry sector to the economy for both employment and the livelihoods of the restauranters and their employees.  He stressed that with 97% of businesses employing less than 20, the importance of small businesses was self evident.

The excellent meal was followed by a tour of the Parliament chamber.
